I mentioned last week that I was working on a short story after the events of Down with the Queen, and I finished that easily enough. Nothing even as exciting as A Date Gone Awry, just information that I’d feel bad skipping, yet which doesn’t fit into DwtQ or into whatever I name the next book.
Once I finished that, I went ahead and started on Queen of Ice. I don’t have much written so far, just ~2,500 words, but it’s a start. I did get artwork for it, though, so here’s the cover art by June Jenssen!
Finally, I have a bit of other news on Through the Fire, regarding the entire trilogy. I’ve come to an agreement with Tantor Media, and they’ll be producing audiobooks of the trilogy as they come out, though I can’t tell you exactly how long it’ll take them to be produced. I’ll be sending them the files as soon as they have the final version of The Avatar’s Flames, so that they can get started on it.
I have to admit I’m a little nervous to send The Avatar’s Flames into the wild, but that’s how it goes. About three weeks to release!
I don’t have anything else big to let everyone know about, so that’s it for this week.
Is the short story going to be here like A Date Gone Awry or on Kindle?

The short story will be shared via my newsletter initially, starting the week after The Avatar’s Flames comes out. The story is in 5 parts, so it’ll take 5 newsletters to get the full thing out, then I’m going to put it up on my website.
I may eventually compile it and any other Stars & Shadows short stories into a single volume, get them properly edited, and publish them via Kindle, but that’s not a short-term goal.

It’s great to hear about the Audiobook being produced, I will definitely buy it upon its release, will be interesting to hear how it contrasts with how I read Avatar’s Flames.
