I haven’t done a mid-week update in a while, partially because I’ve been somewhat brain-dead in some ways, and partially because of the dental issues I mentioned on Sunday. They’re being dealt with, but I’m not done yet.
This year, I’m not participating in NaNoWriMo, in large part because I’m working on Marin’s Codex. I’ll probably hit the 50,000 word goal for the month, but it isn’t going to be specifically for the event. Maybe next year, but I’m making no promises there.
I know a while back I mentioned that I wrote another short story, mostly on a whim. The story is named Broken Chains, and is the story of a knight and his companions who’ve rescued a kidnapped princess, with a distinct twist to the story. It’s about 6,400 words, split into 4 chapters, and I’m going to be doling it out a chapter at a time via my mailing list starting Monday. I should add that in many ways this is the seed for another possible series in the future, but if it happens, it’ll be after my current backlog.
For Born a Queen, the audiobook recording should be starting soon, according to the narrator. I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out, and am anticipating it going live toward the end of December or the the beginning of January.
Beyond all of that, though, despite making good progress on Marin’s Codex, I’ll admit I’m in a bit of a slump at the moment. Not entirely certain what it is, likely the medical stuff combined with the time of year. I’m sure I’ll get over it, but a good part of why I keep up the updates on Sundays is to give myself the sharp kick in the rear that I sometimes need. I’m the sort of person who needs that.
