So, since I neglected to give an update last week, Marin’s Codex, one of the parts of Before the Godsrage, has reached ~27,500 words. At 40,000 words it graduates from novella to novel, and I fully expect it to reach that point. Who knows, it might turn into a full novel of its own! We’ll see what happens with it, as I’m not entirely certain how long it’ll go.
To those of you who supported Born a Queen, thank you very much. That being said, I’ve heard a few concerns about how some aspects of the plot are similar to those of Ancient Ruins, and I thought I should share a bit of information in that regard.
Born a Queen‘s original version was written a full year before I started Ancient Ruins, and when I wrote the latter I outright stole plot elements that I liked from other stories I’d worked on before that point. Most of the aspects people may have noticed and commented on in reviews were among those elements, though in the re-write I reworked them to try to make them less obvious. If you’re concerned about them showing up in every series I write, aside from lesbians and magic, I can assure you that it’s not going to be that way in every series. I’m trying to be open about this part of my writing. I haven’t even written the beginning of the second book, so that won’t be an issue in its case.
Also, I’ve been less productive of late because of some dental problems. I’m getting them fixed, but dental work is not conducive to inspiration for writing, I’m afraid. It should be done in the next few weeks (I hope), but I’m getting it out of the way. When I’m not in pain, I might be able to actually up my productivity for the first time in ages!
In any case, I hope everyone has a great weekend!
