Mistress of Chaos is up to ~72,500 words, and steadily climbing! I’ve been mentally revamping a few aspects of the plot as I go, as some parts of the story are evolving to fit together a bit more sanely into the framework I have in mind. It somewhat helps that I have various story ideas for her that I can slot in or out of different books to get the tone that I like for this series. The relatively ‘episodic’ nature of each book helps for that.
On the other end of things, Embers of War has definitely slowed down and is up to ~85,000 words. I expected this, as I’m focusing on getting Mistress of Chaos done, then going to work on the next Talyn book. I don’t know what I’m going to name it yet… maybe Talyn: Dungeon? I think that’s a good name for it. We shall see!
I’m hoping to finish Mistress of Chaos in early July, and to get it edited by the end of July, but if it goes as long as Adept of Chaos, we’re likely adding a month to that timeline. Maybe more, but hopefully not. My focus is the main line of books, even if I’m enjoying Embers of War. Besides, it’s definitely very slow burn. The character doesn’t even have their vardo yet, which I expected them to get in the first 40,000 words. Go figure.
In any case, now that all of that is done, here’s some art! These are character reference sheets illustrated by Wooserr, the artist who did the RPG Night artwork a while back! I’ve got some more in-progress with him as well.

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve commented because things got busy (tbh, still super busy and hectic…Today is just my relax day 😅)… These things happen when you’re back in school full-time 🤷♀️
You’re definitely chugging right along with all your works and can’t wait until I have some free time to enjoy them 😅😊.
Have to be honest, I freaking love Lilith’s costume and can’t wait for it to get a proper cover or picture eventually. Also while I’m not a Emith relationship fan myself, their suits go so well with each other 😍
Also Pride picture when? (Joking though I bet that would be amazing)
Hope you’ve been well and keep up that writing grind!

I hear you about being busy. I can only imagine how busy college would keep you, since I only went for part of a semester.
Figuring out Lilith’s suit took some work, but Wooserr did an amazing job putting it together. We went over several sketches before finding one that worked well, and I’m really happy with how it worked out! I didn’t really compare Lilith and Emily’s suits until you mentioned it, but you certainly aren’t wrong!
As for the Pride picture… I never even considered it, being honest. I have no idea what I’d even do for it. ^_^
Good luck with schooling! I fully expect to keep plodding along with my writing.
