May 8th Update

Phoenix Ascendant is live! A link is in the name at the beginning of this post. I’m really excited to see what everyone thinks of how I wrap up this series, and I hope you enjoy it! As I said previously, the audiobook is with the narrator, and they’ve gotten to work on it. I’m really, really looking forward to that coming out as well! I tried to go epic with some sections of this book.

On other fronts, Mistress of Chaos is up to about 27,500 words, and is coming along nicely. I just finished part 1 of the book, and started on part 2. I’m pretty happy with how it’s progressing. I’ve also been working on Embers of War, but again, I’m not making any promises on it. I have too many projects to promise another lightly. But they’re both coming along well. Dragons just may be involved in Mistress of Chaos. You’ll have to wait to see what I’m up to to find out!

I hope you all have a great week!

  2. I’m assuming that Mistress of Chaos will be four parts, possibly five. I’m not entirely sure at this point, but that’s my guess from the rough plot outline I had in mind for it. I hope you enjoy the second one! Has a very different flow to it.

As for Embers of War… it’s an idea that popped into my head three weeks ago, now. The super-duper basics are a hero dies defeating the demon king, but gets resurrected by one of their friends close to two millennia later. Her goal is to retire and become a traveling runesmith, but things interfere with the goal.

  4. Read Phoenix Ascendant shortly after Amazon’s release (roughly 9:30 PM PDT last night) and finished early this morning. Very enjoyable, if a bit longer than your usual writing. I’m sure there are other stories in that universe that could be told, but this one didn’t have very many loose threads left over. Thank you for persevering and I hope it does well in sales. Kind of hoping Embers of War sees publication, because well… *reading*!

  5. I’m glad you liked it! It definitely ran longer than normal, and I’m not entirely sure why. Probably because I didn’t want to rush the Nocturne section.

As for Embers of War… we’ll see. I’ve got over 50k on it, but I’ve had books die on me farther along than that, so I’m not counting my chickens before they’ve hatched. Hopefully!

  6. Quite enjoyable, I’m glad that Xandra grew so much as a character. Also since Soul Bound and Through the Fire are both connected world wise, I have a sinking suspicion that Rue is going to get her hands on a certain library perhaps?

Either way can’t wait for more!

  7. I’m glad you enjoyed it! Getting Xandra’s characterization right was… difficult. And I know some people were disappointed she wasn’t as snarky/misanthropic in this one, but it felt right to me.

As for Rue… we shall see.
