Also, if you’d please consider reviewing the book, I’d deeply appreciate it! Reviews are incredibly important to authors, especially independent ones like me.

  1. Unfortunately, I’m going to have to wait a week, but I’m DEFINETLY GOING to READ it!

Also don’t believe I’ve said it, but love the cover art!

  2. I really hope you enjoy it when you get to it! I’m both excited and worried (not unusual for me), since it is the longest series I’ve written.

Also, I’m glad you like the cover art! It turned out almost perfect, from my perspective.

  3. Hmm I don’t know if there is a way to do spoilers in these comments do anyway book Spoilers ahead:

That explains why she never really learns how to use her powers better (on a doylist level) , if she did some readers would be annoyed by the exchange. ^^

  4. I’m honestly not sure if there’s a way to do spoilers in comments either.

As for your comment, very true. Though I’ve always been of the opinion that Lilith’s powers were particularly opaque and hard to figure out.

  5. My evening is saved. :D
The book is kind of hard to discover, though. When I search for the title on amazon.de, it’s the 33rd result.

  6. Alas, that’s the problem with the title being a very common chess term. I thought it felt appropriate, but it isn’t the best in that regard. Fortunately, since it’s the last in the series that allows people to discover it through the other books.

I hope you enjoy the book!

  7. just finished, had to reread the previous book (had to), really enjoyed! I liked the various threads coming to a head. Definitely a few sad moments
*spoilers from here on* … Circe *tear, respect* and the complete loss of her previous powerset (I liked that it connected her to her friends, I would’ve wished maybe it could’ve been reduced to only do a couple of them at a time, so she could keep the connections and have some additional tactical decisions depending on the situation).
The clones were awesome. They really livened up the Amber scenes well. Also, I realized as I was typing this, I kind of wanted just one of them to be like a gung-ho, all-in follower of the original, and Amber and the other clones to just be like “something’s wrong with that one” :D ;)
I loved the final bit where Rachel narc’d on Lilith about the Archon / Daemonia painting!

Kudos, and can’t wait (will though) for the next one.

  8. Not going to address the spoilers, save to say that my wife had been trying to keep me from doing the first one for over a year. >_>

I was honestly amazed at how much fun the clones were, at least when it came to making scenes that otherwise would’ve been kind of dry and boring much more fun. Alas, a bit late for the gung-ho follower… not quite, though. It could still happen!

I tried hard to do a bunch of references to earlier books. I’m sure I could’ve done better, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out… and the painting was a lot of fun. Popped into my head out of nowhere!

But I’m glad you enjoyed the story!
