I finished the rough draft of Queen’s Gambit this past week, with just over 100,000 words, and initial reviews from my alpha readers are promising. Unfortunately, they have found at least one thing that’s going to require expanding on the book a little, but I’m not sure how much it’ll require overall, that’ll have to wait until I have time to examine it in more depth. Mostly, I’m happy that it appears the plot has exceeded expectations in most cases, so I didn’t screw up entirely.

Now, does that mean the book is going to be coming out quickly? Eh… not so much. I’m waiting on the cover art (which is well on its way), and I still have to do my editing passes and the expansion before sending it to the editor. Fortunately, their plate is pretty empty at the moment, so that won’t be a huge delay. I expect a June release date is possible, but no guarantees!

Let’s see, is there anything else I need to mention… not that immediately comes to mind. I’ve had some terrible luck when it comes to artists lately, but I’m trying to get past that so I can share stuff. I intend to try to finish up Broken Chains quickly for my Patrons over the next couple of weeks (after dealing with Queen’s Gambit), then it’s on to Adept of Chaos! I’m excited for most of them.
