December 3rd Update

So, Marin’s Codex is at about 78,000 words in length, though at the time of this writing I’m preparing to do more. For the record, I generally write up these blog posts late Saturday night so that they can go out early.

This has been a weird situation. When I began Marin’s Codex, I intended it to be about 30,000-40,000 words in length, or a novella to short novel. That isn’t happening, obviously, but it just fascinates me that it happened. It’s a slow, winding plot, in a lot of ways, showing the lives of Emonael and Marin, and is almost exclusively from their perspectives (the prologue and epilogue will be the only exceptions). I’m going to have to get new cover art, but I’m willing to do that. With what I wrote the last few days, I suspect that I’m going into the final chapters now, and that Marin’s Codex itself will end up being around 90,000 words. That being said… I’ve been wrong before, as evidenced above. We’ll see what happens, as this is just the rough draft, and there’s at least one scene I want to insert into the early parts of the book.

Now, in other news, the audiobook of Born a Queen is coming along on-schedule, which means it should be done by December 15th. Assuming that happens… it could come out this month, but I can’t guarantee it, due to Audible having to approve it. I really, really hope that it comes out before Christmas, but I’m not holding my breath on that.

Another thing to mention is the new Audible Romance offer. I don’t know a lot of the details, but I know it’s kind of like Kindle Unlimited for audiobooks, but for romance title primarily. I got an invite to it, asking if I was interested in enrolling Spells of Old and Halls of Power, but I was very confused when I noticed that they weren’t willing to accept Ancient Ruins. At present, I will not be putting any of my titles into the program, not unless things change. Besides, what’s the point of putting in only book 2 and 3, right?

Anyway, that’s it for today. Hope everyone is doing well!
