Circle of Ashes is now live! This is likely the final book, and I’m looking forward to seeing what you think. This was hard to write, primarily because I wanted it to cover all the parts I intended. It ended up with even more, honestly. I love it, so I hope all of you do. Here are the links.
Circle of Ashes – Kindle ebook
Circle of Ashes – Paperback
Circle of Ashes – Hardcover
Also, I’ve sent the manuscript to Tantor, so they’ll be handling the audiobook at their own pace. I have no idea how long it’ll take.
Now, for the next project! I’ve taken the manuscript I had for Bloom of Chaos, the one which didn’t meet expectations in January/February, and cut it down to about 1/3 the length. This is now going to be Born of Chaos, and I’ve begun changing the course of the story, after adding a few bits to earlier chapters which I felt were missing. It’s currently at about 65,000 words, so I’m hoping to get into the groove with it and get it out sooner rather than later.
My other plans are pretty minimal at the moment. After Born of Chaos I’m currently thinking to write the third book of the Embers of War trilogy which I’ve mentioned a few times, the one I wanted finished before publishing any of them. I just want something out of my current wheelhouse to relax, honestly. I’m not making any other promises, though. I need to finish Born of Chaos, and get it back on track.
Have a wonderful week! I’m going to be spending a decent part of it with family, so anticipate less writing this coming week.
looking forward to it. Would it cause you any trouble if you released the uncut version on this website? If not would it be possible? I’d love to read the original

In trouble? No, not really. The issue is more that it just… was a bit of a let-down, at least in my mind? It wasn’t terrible, by any means, but I don’t think it was particularly good, either. I’m also considering what parts I want to incorporate into the new version.

Loved Circle of Ashes! Great ending of the “Sinera Trilogy”. And haha, I love Rue’s harem meeting at the end, that was awesome.
I do have to ask, it seems like you were setting up a storyline with Hekara, is that going to be a spinoff, or possibly a 7th book? It sounds like you aren’t currently planning on more Ruethwyn

I’m glad you enjoyed it! It was incredibly hard to write the book, but I’m very happy with how things shook out.
As for Hekara, while it may have seemed like I was setting up a story for her, it was closer to just showing she had her own concerns, her own plans, and all of that. I try to ensure that the protagonist and their allies aren’t the only ones who have stories and lives beyond the scope of the story. Hekara’s just started when I decided to reintroduce her, at which point I needed to explain why she wouldn’t try to murder Rue outright, which led into what we see.
But I currently have no plans to write another book in Through the Fire. I’ve written the stories I had in mind, and have been running on fumes lately. I need a change of pace, rather than rotating through the same series.

Ah, well, I can certainly understand the need to switch to something new. Thanks again for the great series. I’m certainly excited for more Evelyn.

Finished reading it, it was fantastic, almost all the loose end tied together except one i’m still wondering. What was the item Luminous found in the desert and stealthy gave to Rue? Also something you mentioned in the book’s end note about Shyama’s tea, i was a bit unease waiting for the betrayal to occur.

…Dang it all. The item with Luminous was on my list of things I was going to address, and it just slipped through the cracks. I’m now very annoyed with myself for forgetting to put it into the story.
With that said, the item was supposed to be an incredibly powerfully light-aligned gemstone which was infused over centuries of refinement at the heart of the desert. Fortunately for me, it wasn’t directly relevant to the events of the story, but I’m annoyed I didn’t mention it.
Regarding the tea, I was mostly channeling a bit of my own experiences with how the tastes of things change based on the altitude, and Shyama never having had tea at another altitude, except on the airship (which maintains the same atmospheric pressure as sea level to prevent decompression sickness, and thus wouldn’t be affected). I was mostly noting it because Shyama was too proud to actually ask what was going on, and it was a neat little quirk I wanted to put in.

It would have been fun if it was a Magic Lamp with a sexy genie inside. Anyway great book, too bad its the last of the saga. Hope to read the next Evelyn book soon and the new sagas you will write.
