This week I got the new Talyn book up to about 40,000 words. I’ve also stolen part of the title from Bloom of Chaos and titled it Talyn: Blooming. The Evelyn book will be renamed when I get back to it… anyway, not a huge deal. It just felt more appropriate to the Talyn book than to Evelyn, this time.
The key elements for what I have planned for Talyn are a timeskip and a guild war. I’m not saying more than that, since I’m still getting into the second part, but it should convince Talyn to step in of her own volition. I’ve gotten tired of her getting dragged in unwillingly, so I think this would be a lot of fun. We’ll see how it goes when I get to that point!
With that said, here’s the art I commissioned for the next Evelyn book, which I fully expect to still use. Mario Wibisono knocked it out of the park, IMO!

So glad to hear Talyn is taking charge And that look, how very Sith of Evelyn!

Love the art. Kinda wondering which guilds start fighting, if it wouldn’t be too much of a spoiler could you tell us which ones?

That’s the hope, anyway! Talyn needs to take her life by the horns, IMO. But yeah, very sithy outfit.

To be fair, that’s one of the things I’m working out right now. It could be new guilds muscling into the city against existing ones, or even just the major ones I’ve mentioned (Alchemist, Delver, Entertainment, or Merchant, specifically). I’m waiting to see which feels most natural to include in the story as it unfolds, and may adjust the earlier chapters to hint at it once I’ve got things nailed down.
