March 23rd 2024 Update

Early update, because I have an announcement to make. I got the final art of Seed of Chaos this week, so the book will be releasing Monday March 25th. I’m super-excited to get it out at last!

Honestly, there’s not a lot to say about it beyond that. I really enjoyed writing it, and hope you enjoy it! Now on to other subjects, which aren’t as pleasant.

Last weekend I went on a vacation with my family, which went through Wednesday, disrupting things a fair bit. Add to that the stress of the last month, and I’ve been having a hard time focusing. Honestly, I’m afraid the various issues have caused me to partially burn out, which sucks. It’s probably a temporary slump, but it’s a problem.

Talyn: Repose hasn’t made much progress of late. I’m sorry to say that, since I was on a roll with it, but… it is what it is. I’m going to keep trying to write more, but we’ll see how things go. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy Seed of Chaos.

  1. one step at a time…people will understand that life throws curve balls.

When being in a slump you will need to take on one issue after another. Set small manageable goals and thrive on the small wins.

Rushing things will lead into a bigger problem.

  2. looking closely I can’t tell. Is that how hanging on her right arm or just floating against her back? I’m not seeing any pay crossing her chest to indicate it’s slung in such a way

  3. Looking forward to Seeds of Chaos, can’t wait until Evelyn meets the extended family.

I agree with Tim above. While a lot of the writing advice is “keep writing”, I know of at least one author who said “Don’t force it. Forcing it produces subpar results, and your audience will see that.” So, if you need to stop and refocus, or just write something completely outside your normal wheelhouse, then do that. I enjoy your writing as it’s well crafted, consistent, with just the right amounts of tension and humor.

You’ve had a bit of a rough time recently. It’s OK to have issues getting back to a semblance of normalcy.
