My final edit of Talyn: Unyielding is underway, and I should be sending it to my editor at the end of this week. As such, I’ve updated its cover, description, and release date. It will be releasing on July 17th, 2023. I don’t have any idea regarding the audiobook release date, unfortunately, just that it’ll be several months down the road at a minimum.
I mentioned new cover art as well, so here it is! This artwork was illustrated by Denny Ibnu, the same artist who did the previous covers, and I think he did an amazing job! If you don’t like the crop job or typography, don’t blame him, though. That’s all me.
I hope you like them, and have a great week!

I don’t like the crop job, but I disagree with you, it’s totally the artists fault! You see, with the image cropped as you did, you can’t see any of the bad guys the girls a facing (save a few fingers, which is nothing). But, the only way to get a wider horizontal view of what’s going on would require a taller image, which you don’t have. So the crop job is bad, but it’s the best that could be done with a base image of those dimensions, thus it’s entirely the artists fault for not making the image taller, rather than yours for how you chose to crop it!
Why not always ask for square cover art pictures (in 1024 or 2048)? That way the audiobook art is both already done, and in no need of any cropping! With maybe an additional request to keep in mind the need for a (not necessarily centered) vertical strip for the e-book cover, so try to keep most of the important action and detail within a book crop-able strip on the square audiobook cover…

I ordered the design this way for use in multiple products, honestly. The main change that was made was to move the characters to the center of the image rather than being in the right third of it.
The purposes it’s playing (the full resolution of the source file is 9075 x 6480):
– Cover art. Ideal ratio for covers is 1×1.5, so 1000 x 1500 or the equivalent.
– Audiobook cover. Square, like you said.
– Redbubble store products. The resolution of the source file is the minimum for some of their largest products, like the tapestries.
On the subject of audiobooks, Podium asks for the photoshop file so they can adjust it themselves, so having it pre-done wouldn’t help.
Besides, if anything was cropped, it’d be the statues around them, so it would’ve ended up close to how it is anyway. I’ll admit that the wider picture is more expensive, but not that much more expensive than a narrow one.
