*double-checks the title* Okay, good, I didn’t screw up the day or the month this week… or the year. Apparently my brain was fried last week. Onward!
First of all, I got to work on book 2 of Soul Bound this past week. I didn’t get a lot done, since I had about 3,000 words to begin with and only got it up to 5,000, but I’m getting back into the swing of things for Xandra and Jasmine. Now, to answer a question you might have about the title, I’m not sure yet. I think that I’m going to be able to finish the storyline of Soul Bound in this volume, but I’m not absolutely sure yet. If I can’t finish the story, it’ll be titled Nocturne’s Embrace. If I can finish it in this volume, the title will probably be Phoenix Ascendant. I don’t know yet, but that’s the basic reason it isn’t titled yet.
Beyond that, I don’t have a lot to report. I’m recovering from Adept of Chaos still, and hope to be back in my usual form relatively soon.
😂. I noticed that last week, was thinking about saying something then decided, “Nah. Not my problem, and it’s mildly entertaining.” Thanks commenter, you ruined my humor/fun (since this is text, this is humor) 😁. The only reason I’m bringing this up is because how you, Benjamin Medrano, respond makes me love you as an author. Onwards!
Can’t wait for book 2! It’s also reminding me of the last time you said something similar about a series, and it turned into 6 books 😂. Whether this is the last book or not, I hope we get to see Xandra and/or Jasmine again (I know they share the same universe as Ruth and companions)
You know what they say, “Slow and steady wins the race,” so just keep writing and you’ll get it done 😊

One of my big foci for myself is making sure I never get arrogant or above admitting my faults, so I tend to use a fair bit of self-deprecating humor, at least in the privacy of my house. I think it’s important!
As for your comment, I seriously doubt it’ll go for three books total. The entire Nocturne segment of the story would have to be a full volume, which while possible wouldn’t be easy, then the final part would have to be another volume. I think it’s far more likely for each to make up half of a single volume. I’m going to do my best on it, though!

Nice to see progress on the sequel. I finally got around to reading the first one a few days ago, and enjoyed it quite a bit. Xandra and Nef are fun characters and Jasmine has quite a bit of potential. Following up on your Author’s note, and the previous commenter, I hope we do see them run into Rue and her friends at some point, even if it is just relegated to a blog post short or something, I think a meeting between Xandra, Nef, and Essryl would be all kinds of fascinating.

Honestly, I’m a bit annoyed with myself that it took this long to get working on the next book. I intended to do it sooner, but Eve of Destruction interfered. Unfortunate, but… that’s how it goes.
As for meeting with Ruethwyn, I’m afraid that is a subject which I’ll have to play close to my chest. The plotlines involved are… complicated. Hopefully you enjoy it when it comes out!
