This last week I tentatively got back to work. I didn’t get as much done as I wanted to, but since Dusk Gate was already well on its way, I wrote a bit less than 5,000 words, bringing it to about 45,000 words. I’m probably going to be a bit slow on this one at first while I get back into the swing of things, and I’m also waiting on a new desk with better ergonomics.
To give you an idea of the story, one of the two main characters is an elf named Xandra, and she’s a bit… cynical, to put it mildly. She spent about a millennium in one of the hells, before getting out due to the bumbling efforts of a group of people trying to rescue a kidnapped priestess. I’m not going to go into much more than that, but she’s a lot like Amber from Lilith’s Shadow in personality, even if she’s not as evil.
Beyond that, I’m just waiting for the editor to finish with Hives & Heroism, as well as some art. I hope everyone stays safe!
Edit: The editor got me Hives & Heroism after I wrote this post, so I now have it, and have reviewed it. It will be coming out a week earlier than planned, on August 10th! I’m really excited!
