November 3rd 2019 Update

Queen’s Move is up to ~37,500 words and coming along well! I was slightly delayed on it this past week, but that was partly because I had a dental appointment Monday, and I managed to make up lost ground over the course of the week.

However, more importantly, tomorrow Crisis of Faith comes out! This continues the story of Ancient Dreams only a few months after the events of Halls of Power, primarily focused on Tyria’s church. It’s close to a stand-alone novel, not one of a series of its own.

In other news, the audiobook of Sting & Song has been approved by me, narrated by Reba Buhr, and is currently in Audible’s hands. It should be out in the near future… which relates to other good news! I managed to get in contact with the new publisher who Gabriella Cavallero works with, and she’ll be returning to narrate Crisis of Faith! As it is a different publisher and been a couple of years for her, it’s entirely possible a few things might change, but the current estimate is for the audiobook to go live in late December. Coupled with Hell’s Ascendant coming out close to the same time, and it’ll be a busy month!

As a final note, I’ve put together a survey to try to figure out which books, series, and aspects of my writing people enjoy the most. I’m linking it below, and if you’re willing to fill it out I’d greatly appreciate it! It shouldn’t take more than 5-10 minutes, depending on whether you want to answer a couple of written questions. No identifying information is asked for, and I’m curious what people think of my work. The survey will be open until November 18th, at which point I’m going to go through the data and see what I can figure out.

Series Survey

I’m looking forward to the week, and hope everyone has a great time!

  1. Crisis of Faith was worth the wait, and didn’t suffer from the plot wandering I was worried about when you said you were having trouble writing it. I particularly enjoyed the interactions between Tyria and Sistina. I’m probably going to miss these characters again, now.

  2. The main problem with writing it originally was that I didn’t have a solid antagonist, and I /suck/ at political intrigue. So once I decided to abandon the latter and figured out an antagonist, things went much more easily.

The biggest problem was coming up with a threat that Sistina couldn’t utterly crush, I’ll admit. She’s very, /very/ hard to challenge.

    I’m glad you enjoyed it!

  3. I am very glad I read Crisis of Faith. It was absolutley woth the wait. I can’t wait to read more of this series.
I didn’t see it coming that they want to try to convert Wenrs to the light. I sse much potential for this series even if we have to wait a bit longer until the next book.
Then I am awaiting the next book of this series and Queen’s Move (even though super heroes isn’t my favorite genre).
Thansk for this book and hopefully many books more from you.

  4. While I don’t have an exact date, due to Audible taking its sweet time on releases, the audio is scheduled to finish recording on December 16th, assuming nothing goes wrong. After that, it takes Audible between 10-14 business days to put it up for sale, usually 10 days. So assume it’ll go live right around December 30th.
