January 27th 2019 Update

Alright, time for good news and bad news! Let’s get the bad news out of the way first.

I’m having trouble with Crisis of Faith. I started writing it easily enough, the characters are clear, but despite that, there’s very little enthusiasm behind it. It isn’t a slog, either, it’s just not flowing the way I want it to. At the moment I have a little over 11,000 words written for Crisis of Faith, and I’m planning to continue working on it daily, making sure I write at least a thousand words a day. Hopefully one of these days I’ll find a point that sparks my enthusiasm and I can go full-bore on it.

With that in mind, I’ve been having fun with Heaven’s Fallen, so I’ve decided to continue with it for the moment. I’ve named the series Mantles of Power, and I’ve begun writing the second book, Mortal Gods, once I run out of steam on Crisis of Faith each day. It only has 8,500 words so far, mind you, so which one I finish first is entirely up for debate. I’ve also scheduled time with an editor for Heaven’s Fallen, and it will be coming out at some point in April. I’ll have a firm date after I get the cover back and prepare the pre-order, at which point I’ll let everyone know what the release is looking like.

I also have time with the editor scheduled for in May, and whichever of my projects is finished first will get edited for publication at that point. I suspect that will be Mortal Gods, but we’ll see when I get there. As it stands, I’m effectively getting a head start on things, and who knows? Maybe I’ll have both ready by that point.

Also, according to Tantor’s website and Audible, the audiobook of Queen of Ice comes out Tuesday! There’s a tentative date on their website for The Obsidian Palace, but they’ve asked me not to say since that’s subject to change.

Anyway, thank you all for your support so far! I can’t say how much I appreciate it.

  1. I am just about to start reading Obsidian Palace but I would prefer to listen to the audiobook if it’s not far off release? Either way I will start reading it as the ending of Queen of Ice was just to exciting not too 😊

  2. I know that TOP is in the middle of recording, but based on previous timelines, I’d expect it to come out late March to mid-April. I think Tantor has a tentative release date on their website, but I’m unfortunately not sure what date it’ll be out.

  3. I listened to Through the Fire Queen of Ice in a period of three days. I love these novels, as they are vivid and easy to depict in my imagination. As a truck driver all I have done is drive and listen, it has been amazing thus far. I can’t wait for Obsidian Palace!

  4. I’m glad you enjoyed the books! When I checked Tantor’s website just now, they show a release date of March 29th for The Obsidian Palace. I don’t know for certain that they’ll hit that date, but it seems likely. I hope you enjoy it when it comes out!
