June 18th Update

First and most importantly, Halls of Power is at just over 84,000 words. This is something of a surprise to me, as this past week was a rolling disaster.

I’m not going to go into the details, but the week started with a power outage just as I was going to start writing (I was using a laptop, so I got some writing done, but it distracted me). Things were just weird through the week, and for my wife’s birthday we went out, which was another distraction, though a pleasant one. As if there hadn’t been enough problems, the kitchen sink decided to break on Friday, and the insane previous owner had chosen to do something idiotic, so what should have been a 10 minute fix took two hours and two trips to the hardware store.

The good to come from all of this is that I channeled my frustration into writing. The bad was that it was very, very frustrating.

Now, for something that may make people happier. I’m not certain just how long the editing of Halls of Power will take, but I fully expect to have the first draft done by the end of June. Based on the other books, I’m guessing it’ll take about a month, but I also want to take more time to allow ARC readers to spot any issues in the book. Thus, once the first revision of Halls of Power is complete, I intend to put it up for Pre-Order for September 1st. I may get it done earlier than that, but that’s a good time to anticipate for it.

I also have the cover art for Born a Queen now, the artwork created by Brendon and Brian Fraim, but I’m holding it close to my chest for the time being. I intend to debut it to my mailing list sometime in July.

With all of that said, I’m off for now, and going to try to hit a bit over 85,000 words on Halls of Power today. While I normally want to work during the weeks, I find burning off my frustration doesn’t care what day of the week it is.
