Hello everyone! I’m back from my trip, and while I didn’t get quite as much writing done as I would’ve preferred, Circle of Ashes is up to about 45,000 words! That’s enormously better than I’d been half-afraid of, and I’m quite happy with the story thus far.
I did have an interesting time on the trip, though, seeing a couple of museums and some other interesting things. Nothing too impressive, aside from touring the USS Midway, which was… much larger than I’d realized. I knew aircraft carriers were huge, but it was bigger in person than I expected, and also made me realized I probably should adjust my mental picture of starships in Eve of Destruction, as Evelyn’s ships are all bigger than the Midway. Ah, well, live and learn.
On the other side of things, I received the edited version of Talyn: Blooming back on Friday, and I’ve been going through it carefully to ensure it’s as good as I can get it. I’m super excited to get it formatted for the release next month on the 7th. Once that’s done, I’m going to get back to Circle of Ashes. Lots for me to get done!
In any case, have a wonderful week!
I mistakenly thought Talyn’s release date was June 17. Regardless, I’m looking forward to July 7 and Circle of Ashes this year, and I suppose the next Eve book will hopefully be out next year.

Ooh, yeah, that’d be disappointing. For what it’s worth, I probably have about 1/3 of the Eve book which I’m leaving alone, so that’s more than a month of writing on its own. With any luck, I’d be able to get it out in November/December.

That’s hopeful! Evelyn is such a well-written badass. (And I’m not belittling your other badass characters like Xandra, Kitania, and Sistina!) With her on the page, you always know someone is going to have a bad day.
