This week I have Talyn: Blooming up to about 85,000 words. The story is moving along, but unfortunately, I have no idea how long it’ll end up being. It’s possible it’ll only be a little over 100,000 words, or be much longer. I don’t know.
Aside from writing, I’ve been mostly doing my best to relax and refuel inspiration by reading various stories, but I’ve been having trouble finding ones which truly interest me. I’ve found I’ve grown a lot pickier over the years, likely a side effect of having to edit so many books. Hopefully that doesn’t make me a book snob! Anyway, that’s where things are this week.
I have to admit, I wasn’t much of a reader until I found W.D. Arand and your books, Benjamin. After reading everything you’ve written, I started exploring other authors. Honestly, I can only really recommend the classics I read as a kid, like Asimov and the stuff from Astounding. The last non-classic book or haremlit I read was Gideon the Ninth. It was definitely… different, but I enjoyed it, at least until the end. I’m still trying to figure out the point of an omniscient narrator who just straight-up lies to the reader. Keep up the good work!

I started Gideon the Ninth a while back, but it didn’t really appeal to me. Something about the setting was just too grim and gritty to appeal to me. I just find it hard to find books which I truly enjoy these days.
One series which I’ve enjoyed, despite being outside my usual wheelhouse, is the Vampire Fred books by Drew Hayes.

That looks fun! I’ll add to my list. Thanks.
