Obelisk of Blood is coming along at a good pace thus far. I’ve gotten up to about 17,500 words, including a ~1,200 word story recap, and I’m hopeful that I can keep up my usual pace. If everything goes well, I feel like I have good odds of completing the rough draft in October.
Beyond that, there’s several other items in the works. An artist I really like (Innervalue) opened commissions and I managed to get a slot with them, which I’m excited about. I polled my patrons, and they wanted art of the Through the Fire crew, so that’s starting the process (I expect the art in late October, assuming no delays).
In less pleasant news, Amazon has been continuing to steadily reduce compensation, and it just crossed a benchmark I’d set to re-evaluate whether it’s worth staying in Kindle Unlimited for me. Just to give an idea, the compensation from KU since I started publishing has dropped by roughly 1/3, and this is despite Amazon raising the price of the program this summer (and not even discussing inflation). I haven’t made any decisions, I’m just going to be looking at my options and considering over the next month. Even if I do pull out of KU, it’s unlikely that my books will come out all at once.
That’s it for this week, I hope you all have a wonderful upcoming week!
